Do you think its right that the parents get sent to jail if their son or daughter doesnt go to school, - Trauncy.

In my mag last week a couple think their daughter should be the one to go to jail not them as they have tried everything in their power to get their daughter to go to school but she keeps bunking off.

Whats you opinion on this?

I think prison is a little harsh BUT i think they should be punished!! I feel that if my DD's decided not to go to school then id march them down there weather they liked it or not! School is so important in a childs life and if the kid aint going then the parents arnt trying hard enough to get them there!!

I think a fine is more approate, 3 warning first! Or 3 warnings then the child is excluded!!

Also i feel there should be courses or classes on teaching chrildren on how important schooling is! Most kids out there think school is just school and dont realise how important it is to do well to get a good job!

I agree with Alice, and I think that jail is a bit too harsh

yep i too agree with Alice....though i dont think its always that simple.

I remember my sister used to play truant a lot...she would go out the front door in her uniform and then would go wherever she liked. She was so influenced by her mates that i really dont know what my mum could have done. My mum did end up running her to school and watching her go in but i do think it depends on the situation. Some parents do need to be stricter though and toughen up on their kids if they find out they have been truanting....but jail does seem very harsh. Parenting/discliplining classes for both the parent/child would prob be a good idea
